Give Me A Break Inc. has already been a huge
blessing in my life allowing me to connect with other providers,
teachers, educators and parents in our rapidly growing “neck
of the woods.”
I moved to Charlotte County in 1973
as a toddler and grew up attending Charlotte County public
schools and after school programs. I quickly
found my niche in child care from babysitting as a young teenager
to working in child care facilities with infants-preschool
aged children and also in after school and summer camp programs.
When
I became a mother my main focus was clear, I needed to be with
my children as much as possible. In 5-1/2 years
I had 4 children and a successful licensed family child care
home. The only problem I found was that I was working 12 hour
days and my only substitute; my husband also works a full time
job.
After 3 years of managing the home and business I searched
for a substitute that met The Department of Children and Families
guidelines but I found no available resources. I
was just about to close my business and go back to work outside
the house and as I was looking for a part-time nanny; it dawned
upon me that I didn't have to close my business after all. I
just needed help with the one I already have and Give
Me A Break Inc. was born.
